Is Vinted legit to sell on?
Yes. Vinted is a profitable European marketplace founded in 2008, and it launched a full US push in January 2026. But one rule decides whether it suits you: a US Vinted account cannot be used to sell as a business, including buying stock to resell. Read that before the fees, which are zero.

The rule resellers need first
Vinted's US help center says standard accounts cannot sell professionally, and it counts buying items in order to resell them at a profit as professional selling. Its business account, Vinted Pro, is offered only in European countries and the UK. A US account is for clearing out your own wardrobe. Running sourced inventory through it risks warnings, restrictions and a ban, so a reseller with a thrift-sourced rail should treat Vinted as a place to sell their own clothes, not their stock.
Who runs Vinted
Vinted Group, founded in 2008 in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2025 it sold €10.8 billion of goods across 26 markets and made a net profit of €62 million. It has had a small US presence for years and announced a full US expansion, starting in New York, in January 2026.
When you get paid
The payment waits as a pending balance until the order completes, which happens when the buyer confirms that everything is OK, or automatically a couple of days after delivery if they report nothing. An open issue holds it. Withdrawals go to a US bank and take up to five business days, with a minimum of $0.10. Your balance sits in a wallet run by Adyen, and if you do not withdraw it, Vinted spends it on your next Vinted purchase.
What Vinted covers for sellers
A parcel lost or damaged in transit is compensated only if it went on a Vinted prepaid label, was packed properly, and the carrier confirms the loss. The caps are low: $100 on USPS and FedEx and $15 on SpeedX. Anything paid outside Vinted, and any loss to a scam or phishing, is not covered. Vinted's scam and dispute rules for sellers are on our Vinted scams page.
How a buyer's claim runs
The buyer has a short window after delivery to report a problem: lost, damaged, significantly not as described, or a missing item from a bundle. Fit and a change of mind do not qualify. You can offer a partial refund, a full refund or a return, and the buyer pays return shipping. If you cannot agree, Vinted reviews both sides' evidence and answers within 48 hours.
Verification and fees
To be paid you have to activate the wallet within five business days of your first sale, with your full name, date of birth, address and part of your SSN or an ID, or the order is canceled. Selling itself costs nothing: no commission, no processing, no listing fee. The buyer pays the Vinted fee, usually 5% plus $0.70, and the shipping.
Where grading fits
On Vinted the buyer's report window is short and the review is quick, so the condition has to be settled in the listing. A 1.0–10.0 grade and photos of every flaw, chosen to match one of Vinted's condition options, leave little for a claim to argue with.
Frequently asked
- Can you resell on Vinted in the US?
- Not as a business. Vinted's US rules say standard accounts cannot sell professionally, including buying items to resell, and its Vinted Pro business account is not offered in the US. Selling your own clothes is what a US account is for.
- Is Vinted safe for sellers?
- Inside the app, mostly: lost parcels on a Vinted label are compensated up to $100 on USPS, and Vinted reviews disputes within 48 hours. Payments arranged outside Vinted, and losses to phishing, are not covered, and the compensation caps are low for anything valuable.
- Does Vinted charge sellers fees?
- No. US sellers pay no commission, processing or listing fee. The buyer pays a Vinted fee of usually 5% plus $0.70, along with the shipping.
