Vinted fee calculator

Vinted charges US sellers nothing to sell: no commission, no payment processing and no listing fee. The cost sits with the buyer, who pays a Vinted fee of usually 5% of the item price plus $0.70 at checkout, along with the shipping label. So on Vinted the price you set is the price you keep. What it costs you instead is time: you are paid only once the buyer confirms the order, or two days after delivery if they do nothing, and a withdrawal to your bank takes up to five business days after that.

Rates read from Vinted's own fee page on 2026-10-09. Vinted publishes no effective date, so that is the day this was checked rather than the day the rates began. US sellers only.

Your sale

On Vinted the buyer pays for the label at checkout, so shipping is left out of the Vinted result. It still counts for the other platforms in the comparison.

Remitted by the marketplace, never paid to you. It still counts toward the fee on some platforms.

Vinted keeps $0.00

0% of the item price

Paid out to you
$40.00
Profit after your costs
$28.00

The buyer also pays a Vinted fee, usually 5% plus $0.70, about $2.70 on this sale. That is not your cost, but it is on the screen when they decide.

The same sale on all 7 platforms

Your numbers, run through every fee schedule. eBay is modeled as apparel with no Store and good standing; its full model has more levers than that.

PlatformFeesPayoutProfitCharged on
Vinted$0.00$40.00$28.00the item price only
Depop$2.13$45.87$27.37the item price only
Mercari$4.80$43.20$24.70the item price plus shipping
Whatnot$4.98$43.02$24.52the item price only
Etsy$5.01$42.99$24.49the item price plus shipping
eBay$7.34$40.66$22.16the item price plus shipping plus sales tax
Poshmark$8.00$40.00$21.50the item price only

On these numbers Vinted leaves you the most, $28.00, and Poshmark the least, $21.50. That spread is $6.50 on one item. Where an item sells fastest still matters more than where it nets a dollar more.

Ranked by profit, not payout. Vinted buyers pay for the shipping label themselves, so the payout there leaves out shipping and so does the postage you pay.

What each platform actually charges on

Headline rates are not comparable, because these platforms charge them on different bases. This is the part that decides who is really cheapest.

eBay, 13.6% on the item price plus shipping plus sales tax
The fee is charged on sales tax as well as shipping, so eBay takes a cut of money you never touch.
Poshmark, 20% on the item price only
20% is the highest headline rate here, but it is charged on the item price alone and there is no processing fee under it. Below $15 the flat $2.95 is worse than 20% would have been: on a $10 sale it is 29.5%.
Mercari, 10% on the item price plus shipping
Mercari ran a zero-seller-fee experiment and ended it on 2025-01-06. The 10% now applies to buyer-paid shipping too, and the old 2.9% + $0.50 processing fee is gone rather than hidden.
Depop, no selling fee for US sellers
There is no selling fee for US sellers, which makes Depop look free and it nearly is. The cost moved to the buyer: up to 5% plus up to $1 at checkout. Boosting a listing costs 12%, which is more than most platforms charge to sell at all.
Etsy, 6.5% on the item price plus shipping
The 6.5% is the smallest headline rate here and it is not the whole cost: add 3% + $0.25 processing and $0.20 a listing, charged again every four months whether it sells or not. Pass $10,000 in a rolling year and Offsite Ads become mandatory at 12%, with no opt-out for the life of the shop.
Whatnot, 8% on the item price only
The 8% is the Fashion rate for sellers under $15,000 in a 28-day period; it steps down to 4.5% with volume, but the tier you earn applies to the NEXT period. The 2.9% + $0.30 processing is charged on everything the buyer pays, shipping and tax included, and no tier reduces it.
Vinted, no selling fee for US sellers
Vinted charges US sellers nothing at all: no commission, no processing, no listing fee. The buyer pays about 5% plus $0.70 on top of your price, and you are paid only once the buyer confirms the order or two days pass after delivery.

The fee no schedule prints is the item that comes back

A return on used clothing costs you both shipping legs, the refund and the sale, which is larger than the gap between any two platforms on this page. Most of those returns are condition disputes: the buyer expected one thing and opened another. A standardized grade sets that expectation before they buy, and documents what you described if they argue after.

You compared seven platforms. You can list on all of them

The spread between the best and worst platform on one item is real money, and the answer changes item by item. FlipDesk builds the listing once and publishes it to eBay and Shopify by API, and to Poshmark, Mercari and Grailed through the browser extension.

Common questions

How much does Vinted take from a $100 sale?
Nothing. A US seller keeps the full $100. The buyer pays the Vinted fee on top, usually 5% plus $0.70, which is $5.70 on a $100 item, plus the shipping label.
Does Vinted charge sellers fees in the US?
No. Vinted's own help page says there are no fees for uploading or selling items. The full item price goes to your Vinted balance. The only thing you can pay for as a seller is an optional Bump, which pushes a listing up the feed and is priced per item at checkout.
How much is the Vinted buyer fee?
Usually 5% of the item price plus $0.70, and Vinted's price list says it can vary with the item and with bundles. It used to be called the Buyer Protection fee and is now listed as the Vinted fee. On a $40 item the buyer pays about $2.70 on top, plus shipping.
Who pays shipping on Vinted?
The buyer, at checkout, and you print the prepaid label Vinted sends you. That is why this calculator leaves shipping out of the Vinted result: it never passes through your hands. The other platforms in the comparison still count the shipping you enter.
Can I resell on Vinted in the US?
Not as a business. Vinted's US help center says standard accounts cannot sell professionally, which includes buying items in order to resell them, and Vinted Pro, its business account, is offered only in Europe and the UK. Clearing out your own closet is what a US account is for. Flipping sourced stock there risks warnings, restrictions and a ban.
When does Vinted pay sellers?
After the buyer confirms the item arrived as described, or automatically two days after delivery if they do not respond. The money then reaches your available balance, and a withdrawal to your bank can take up to five business days.
