GradeThread
For buyers

Verify a condition grade before you buy

Buying pre-owned clothing on eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, or in person? If the seller graded it with GradeThread, you can confirm the condition for yourself — the grade, the factor breakdown, and the actual garment photos. It's free and takes no account.

The certificate number is printed in the listing (e.g. “Cert #GT-7K2M9”). On a phone, you can also point your camera at the QR code on the item's GradeThread tag.

How to verify a grade

  1. 1

Scan the QR code or open the certificate link

Every GradeThread certificate carries a QR code and a unique link. Scan the code on the listing, badge, or item tag with your phone camera, or tap the seller's certificate link.

  2. 2

    Or enter the certificate code

No link handy? Paste the certificate URL or its code into the verify box on gradethread.com/verify to pull up the official certificate.

  3. 3

Check the grade against the photos

The certificate shows the overall 1.0–10.0 grade, its tier, a factor-by-factor breakdown, and the actual garment photos — so you can confirm the condition matches what you're buying.

  4. 4

    Confirm it's authentic

Each certificate is tamper-evident: GradeThread re-derives its integrity signature on load and shows a verified check, so you know the grade hasn't been altered.

A GradeThread certificate isn't tied to eBay — the same QR code and link verify the grade on any marketplace and for face-to-face sales.

Why a verified grade matters

An independent grade, not the seller's word

Every grade is produced by GradeThread against one published 1.0–10.0 rubric — so 'Excellent' or '8/10' means the same thing no matter who is selling.

Tamper-evident certificates

GradeThread re-derives each certificate's integrity signature when it loads. If a grade were altered, the check fails — so the number you see is the number that was graded.

See the proof yourself

The certificate shows the factor-by-factor breakdown and the actual garment photos, so you can confirm the condition matches the listing before you pay.
